Our Purpose

The Vizsla Health Trust was set up in 2020 and exists to promote and support research into genetic diseases affecting Hungarian Vizslas. Our current focus is Vizsla Inflammatory Polymyopathy (VIP) – and this has been the subject of an ongoing research project. For the future, VIP will not be our only interest. There are other inheritable Illnesses affecting the breed – Immune Mediated Disease generally and epilepsy and cancer too. Canine genetic research is a field with ever improving technology and the hope is that in future it will be possible to identify risk factors for even the more genetically complex diseases. Scientific Research costs money and we very much want to be in a financial position to explore and optimise any new initiatives with the potential to help breed healthier vizslas
